Senior Pictures for Twins

If you are lucky enough to have two high school seniors at the same time, I do offer options for sessions with both kids. You can choose to do separate sessions for each child or do them both at the same time, using the “extended time” option on the session fee. Either way, both kids should be present at the session so I can get portraits of them together, too!

The “extended time” option is for situations where you want individual portraits of both seniors and photos of them together. For this option, the photos need to be done at the same time and place (not separate dates or locations). I will print 25 proofs for each child andabout five of them together for your ordering appointment.

Some families and seniors prefer to have twins photographed separately and allow them each to have their own experience. This is totally fine! You will pay for the session fee for each student individually, but we will do the ordering appointment for both at the same time. I do not charge the “twin tax” and make you purchase separate packages for each child, but you can consolidate your ordering for both kids into one collection.

Senior Portraits with a Friend

Sometimes students wish to coordinate their senior pictures with a friend. I have an option for that! Buddy sessions offer a discounted rate to each family and will inlclude photos of the kids together as part of your proofing appointment. Like the “extended time” session, the students photos must be scheduled at the same time and same location. They can have the option to do their pictures together (taking turns) or they can choose to overlap their back-to-back sessions by approximately 15 minutes.

I actually did this with my own friend back in the dark ages. It is still a fond memory and certainly the best portrait of us from that time period.

Senior Pictures with Siblings

The last category I will mention is using senoir portrait time to get a photograph of your kids together. It is pretty common for parents to bring younger siblings to a senior photoshoot, or even older sibling to come along to help. As long as the star of the show, the senior, is cool with this, I am happy to add on extended time to include siblings.

Why do we care what the senior thinks about including siblings?

The senior portrait experience, however your kid might grouse about it, is a special moment for them, marking their transition into the adult world. We don’t really get individual portraits of our kids (or ourselves) aside from a business photo, again in our adult lives. It’s really peculiar if you think about it, but it’s true. So mark the beauty, the youth, the moment and create memories that will be cherished.

Senior portrait sessions should be focused on the senior! We are getting creative together to make beautiful and special images together. They are the most important person in the room (or park or street) in that moment. Seniors need time to get comfortable with me, relax for the camera, let a true smile come through. They need time to change clothes and find great spots that fit their own vibe. This is why I only extend time for sessions, not try to split the time between multiple subjets.

Tips for twins and friends who want portraits together:

  • Discuss with your sibling or friend the location and vibe you each want for your photos. It may be very similar or it could be one wants city and one wants flowers.

  • Think about outfits that would coordinate and look great together for some shots. You may want a few different looks, some casual, some more dressed up.

  • Consider how and where you want to share your images. Is it mainly on social media? Do you each want a print to keep in your room? Do you want a memory book of you together?

  • If there is something fun you like to do together that would be interesting to capture, I’m open to being creative! Let me know as we plan your session so we can be prepared for the best and most creative photos!
